"Best of Best Friends" is the ninth episode of Season 1 Squirrel Boy, and the ninth episode of the series overall. It originally aired on August 4, 2006.
Summary[]
After a big fight, Andy and Rodney set up applications for new best friends.
Plot[]
After Rodney forgets the anniversary of the time he and Andy crossed the Field of Screams together, while Andy forgets the simultaneously occurring anniversary of when he and Rodney had severe rashes together, they get into an argument officially breaking off their friendship. They try to find new best friends by setting up an interview for new best friend applicants in the backyard. They hold competitions for activities such as lifting a cow, crossing an obstacle course of rubber tires, having a sleepover, building a pillow fort, and making the sun appear during a rainstorm.
As the contest concludes, the final results reveal that Andy has chosen Oscar as his new best friend. Rodney chooses Oscar as his new best friend too, so as to make Andy jealous. Every time Oscar tries to hangout with Andy, Rodney wants to hang out with Oscar.
During a sleepover, Oscar tries to bring Andy and Rodney back together as friends, convincing them to talk to his Therapig voice box plush. Andy says that he and Oscar are going to cross the Field of Screams tomorrow morning, only for that to be Rodney's plan with Oscar too.
The next morning, Andy and Rodney have brought Oscar along to the Field of Screams, but Oscar is too afraid to cross and impotently refuses. Andy and Rodney have concluded that Oscar can't go in alone because he thinks they themselves should be going in there. This officially restores Andy and Rodney's friendship, with Rodney declaring that Oscar would be a good friend, with Andy adding if only he and Rodney weren't best friends already. Andy and Rodney then cross the Field of Screams together and endure the pain as Oscar and his parents watch in admiration together as the episode comes to an end.
